Hello from Germany!

today I got my car back.... with a just new starter from a german firm in Hamburg with as parts ... KTS hamburg
in US it costs about 50 $ but in Europe 250 Euro ... so it doesn´t matter, now I have a new one and it works really another... mutch stronger.
but I want to rebuilt the old one and thanks for links with parts from Rockauto,
I think, rebuilt for 10 $ it´s a good deal and I hope to have a lot fun,
the old one of mine looks very new and there is no rust or dust....

I hope to make a good documentation ...

by the way ...I hate everything with electric..

my plan is to cleen everything, it´s much more cheeper to buy a new one but I want to rebuilt this starter and check the funktion if after so havy disaster everything works. Parhaps i have small problem with isolation of cabels... we take a look,
I ordered parts and I have to wait now 2-3 weeks

For a very small investment you should be able to restore that starter for
a backup. The bendix is a cheap extremely common part, probably brushes
and that copper stud from somewhere. I learned that lesson half a century
ago, now there are more backup starters, alternators, and a few other things
on my shelves, than on my cars.

Don't forget to check the condition of the flywheel teeth. Bruce Roe

condition of flywheel teeth is very good!, nothing is brocken, the car runs very smooooooth
of course I will rebuild the starter, I ordered parts and tody cleened everything.
in the winter we have a very lot of free time to do it

... today I need your help becouse of ignition...

so I have now nothing to do in Toronado and I would like to check my ignition....
what ist the best point of ignition ?, how did you set your toronado´s .... 5°..7,5... or 10...or more ?
everything done/ setting with vacuum or without ?

did you check your total timing scale and timing curve?? for exemple obouve the 3 thousand turns

how can I do it with my light pistol? in the practically? is there a easy method?

I would be happy to hear something about that ..

I set my car to factory spec 7.5 BTDC (or as close as you can get to that with the weird timing mark and a strobe light). The car runs fine.

Disconnect vacuum advance and plug hose when setting timing. Make sure idle speed is at recommended rpm.

I set my car yersterday by 7.5° BTDC..... much better, und very fine
and today I changed the weatherstrip rubber, my was in veery bad contition , see the picture , the job is very easy and quick,
now is the car prepared for the winter

Glad it worked. On many of my cars the timing mark was on the harmonic
damper, mounted on a ring of rubber. When the rubber got old, the outer
ring moved around making the timing mark useless. After a couple of them
came completely apart, I replaced them on all cars with FluiDampers, can't
