I see the 66 you mentioned. The main thing that makes me nervous there is the comment about the transmission. That could be a simple vacuum leak or linkage adjustment, but I always assume the worst.

Thanks guys! I've waiting for responses to messages I sent out about three cars. We'll see.

Another one that I was marginally keeping an eye on was apparently sold yesterday: a 70 GT. It listed on eBay in Feb and he apparently didn't get a nibble at $8.5k. Even though his site asks for $19.9k, I seriously doubt that's what it went for.

Those redline tires look great on that white car.

Too bad the person that wrote the ad copy doesn't understand how to write using use paragraphs. I couldn't read the whole thing without losing my place.

When you find one, try and go see it yourself before buying or try to find someone local to go look at it for you. Collector car clubs are all over the place and I'm sure you could find someone just about anywhere to take a look for you.

I'm in Kansas City. In fact, I was just a few blocks away from the Mecum auction when they sold that silver 66 on Friday. Grrrr.

I agree! I've never purchased a car sight unseen before and it makes me very uneasy.

I've seen a few places that advertise local mechanics that, for $50 - $100, claim to inspect cars locally.

Right now, I'm trying to narrow the radius of my search to one I can cover myself. That's the main problem with me and the NJ 66.

Hopefully I'll get some positive responses to messages that I sent to sellers closer to home.

This 67 was just re-listed on eBay. The high bidder last time apparently didn't follow through.

When I mentioned this car before, I thought the air had been removed. But now that I look very closely, I don't think it had air to begin with. I apologize to whomever for suggesting that this car had been hacked up!

Maybe I should scale back my Toronado ambitions a bit and bid on this?

Here's a new listing for a 66 in Orange County, CA. The ad is long on verbiage but very short on real content. I'm not sure how to respond to this. I'm sure he wants more than $1 and I can appreciate the size/dimensions are "Huge," but there's not much else to work with.

If I lived in LA I'd check it out, but I think I can do better than that on a wider scale.

It is amazing to me how bad many of these online ads are. For Toronados, it seems worse because they substitute a cut-and-pasted history of Toronados in general while omitting the details and pics of the specific cars they're trying to sell.

Russ, is yours the one from Solana Beach? I saw it a while back and then, when I went to find that ad again, it was gone! If so, well done!
