1970 GT fuel Sending unit
1970 GT fuel Sending unit
I'm trying to find a replacement fuel sending unit for my 1970 toro. I've been able to find new ones for the 71 models but nothing for the 70. Will a 71 sending unit work on my 70?

Re: 1970 GT fuel Sending unit
Hi Fred,
Chances are they are not the same unit with the change from 70 to 71 to a full frame and therefore different tank/unit, but you never know. The best thing is to cross-reference part numbers.
Also, there is a guy advertising in Hemmings that rebuilds them.
If you can't reference a part# let me know and I'll source it out for you. Have you pulled out the sending unit from the tank to inspect? The sending unit can be checked with a VOM for resistance values.
PS... Are you SURE it's a bad sending unit and not a wire/ground issue? It could also be a dash/gauge/fuse issue too.

As far as I know the sending unit was working fine but on removing it from the rusty tank the mesh strainer bag partially tore off. I suppose I might just be able to find a new one of those, though the unit itself is very rusted.
Where can I find reference part #s?

A fellow from PA (orignal owner of a unrestored 21,000 mile 70 Toro, non GT model), is looking for the same unit.
