Considering buying a 1983. I have a couple questions.

Hello everybody. I am looking at a 1983 Toronado and it has a couple problems for me to consider.
1. It needs to have the cv's changed (the owner tells me) and it has a leak in the trans which could be cv related (he also said that). How difficult is it to swap a cv (aka drive axle) in a Toronado? I am no stranger to doing this job on other cars, I've just never looked behind the wheel of a toronado before. Could this leak be caused by a shoddy axle banging around? Is that going to be easy to fix?

2. something the owner called 'the vacuum tower' is rusted out, is this an easy part to find or can it be bypassed satisfactorily? In case that name is incorrect I will attempt to describe the piece. It threads into the top of the intake manifold (or maybe the head, it was dark out) at the rear of the engine. the heater core hose connects to this, as does a vacuum line and two wires.

3. Is there anything else I should be paying particular attention to? This car has been sitting idle for 20 years. I expect to find some troubles like brake cylinders, and hoses/belts but is there something expensive or difficult I should be looking for?

4. I haven't heard this car run but given it's condition (very good) and it's cost ($200) I am willing to take a gamble if these other problems aren't too difficult to overcome.

the price seems fair? I don't know alot about the 83's I,m more a first gen. I do have a 82 transmission sitting with my extra's and the seals look like they shouldn't be that hard to replace as far as the vacuum if its not avalible im sure you could probably make something work. there is a guy out here in utah where i live that has probably 6 of your gen toro's so I bet the parts are still out there?

I'd have called it a "Heater Control Valve".
