Re: 1968 Quadrajet Dashpot?
A TOA member has recently had great luck using a dashpot purchased on ebay ($9) from competitioncarburetors (vendor name). Search for "Carburetor Dash Pot Idle Stop Dashpot assembly" on ebay to find them. His application was a '67 Eldorado...but it's basically a highly generic part that is...

Re: 66 Toro Eyebrows -- Black or Chrome?
The order can be either... the pieces are pot metal so finding good cores for plating...and getting a good plater are critical. Once the chrome is on, you need to roughen up the non-chrome parts and paint. Either center in black or outsides in body color can be done first. Personally I'd probably do...

Re: Lights in the '66 doors: How do you change them?
use a very very thin screwdriver or better yet a dental tool to pry... if the lens is brittle, it will snap...but, nothing much else to do. You'll then have to replace the lens. They're same bulb as in rear quarter panel... 2112? I can't remember the number off the top of my head. THe bulb with conn...

Re: 68 bucket seats into '66?
Well, I may have found a '68 w/ bucket seats... Unfortunately, I hate '68s, so I was curious how different they'd be from those found in a '66. Extremely different on several counts. Most significant is that '66 only have no seat back lock on them. '67 and later do (667 and 68 are on side of seat) ...

Re: Re-wiring power windows/seat on '66
If you replace the wire, it will again last for 20-30 years. It is just the opening and closing that does it. Do get very solid connections... use butt connectors and crimp very very solidly... using same gauge auto wiring. Don't short cut on this... you must have same gauge wire...and you should di...

Re: Question for tall people: What did you do about the seat
All Strato Seats of that vintage have 2 mounting provisions on the seat anchors. The car was delivered from the factory in the back position. To gain one additional inch, you simply need to unbolt the 8 mount bolts.... replace the seat on the front holes and you add 1 inch to front seating. I'm 6'5&...

Re: '66 in-dash clock
Let us know how you do. I have the same issue and was debating the merits of trying to service my clock or convert to quartz as well. Thanks! The original wind up clock reminds me of a set of points more than anything when you take it apart. Every so often (like every 15 seconds or so), it triggers...

Re: replacing carpet in a "66"
I am sure someone here has one if it is bad...one other think I did was carefuly cut the stitching off that heel pad and removed it before installing the pan and matt. One more thing leave extra carpet when cutting it I used a soldering iron to make the holes for the seat and seatbelt holes and set...

No.
But still pretty easy to get. I found mine on eBay. Used on Cadillacs and a few other cars...

Re: Firestone TFD Tire
Well, having a TFD/FWD molded into a modern SBR will probably not ever happen. :( That aside, a modern SBR will never have the same look/profile as an OEM type bias ply tire. They are simply just way too different of a design. Most folks with REALLY nice Toros are running Michelins, BFG, Goodyear, ...
