spark plug- R43S vs 45S

So i recently swapped out the plugs in my 1966 toronado 425. the parts place said it took R43s. When i pulled the plugs, they were 45S. I compared the two and the 45S plugs were longer my alittle. The parts place said someone put the wrong plugs int he car the last time they were changed as the cata...

As she had to keep popping the hood something weakend and the drivers side rear most hinge bolt actually came out of the chassis/body and the bracket is bent. How can we fix th...

Re: 1966 won't start- thinking fuel pump

There's a reason that GM didn't use rubber hose on the pressure side of the fuel pump. GM always used metal tubing. well somebody got to it before me as there was rubber hose 1/2 way between the flared ends of the original fittings. And it was like that for years it looked like based on hose condit...

Re: 1966 won't start- thinking fuel pump

Well went to my local parts place to get a replacement fuel line and fittings. He did not have the brass block but could have made an adapter with a couple extra joints. He then said that I could delete the saucer thing after he saw it and go to rubber hose. So I got some hose and a elbow with a nip...

Re: 1966 won't start- thinking fuel pump

First Guess: Cracked flare on the end of the tubing. You might get by with replacing the tubing. If it's not a cracked flare, then the flare and flare seat must be distorted. You'll need both the tubing and the brass block. so if i replace the brass block, what's the chance of me messing up the con...

Re: 1966 won't start- thinking fuel pump

So I tightened the fitting down some more. Cranked engine and it fired up and stayed up but was leaking more than before but from the area between the center of the threaded male fitting and the tubing. Darn. So am going to replace the tubing and the nut side of the connection. Should I replace the ...

Re: Spark Plugs

Along the same line what is the best way to remove plugs that have rust on the exposed threads? My gf inherited a 66 and the exposed threads are rusted. Am thinking pb blaster soaking for a fee days? They look like they have been there forever. Perhaps leave it till there is a problem? Just thinking...

Re: 1966 won't start- thinking fuel pump

ok, i will remove the fitting, check the flare, clean the threads, put a little dab of teflon paste on the threads and retighten. I won't go crazy on the paste.

it can't hurt if i just give it a little paste on the threads?

Re: 1966 won't start- thinking fuel pump

my leak is at that block looking thing where the fitting screws into it from the top. It is very slight. I got some teflon paste and will try that tonight. so that's a flare fitting? supposedly you don't need teflon tape for them, so what does that mean if it is a flair fitting? Steel flare on a br...
