I been searching for a while...I'm wanting to know if the gmc 455 headers can be adapted to a 1970 toronado. I don't mind having to cut the collector but I don't want to go modifying the primary tubes.
Surely someone has adapted these and if so what modifications were needed..?
cheers.

Will there be any engine bay differences or clearances from a 1971 to a 1970?

Re: gmc Motorhome headers?
hard to explain.
the main difference will be firewall and the frame crossmember where the transmission mounts. on a 1971 the downpipe goes between the firewall and the crossmember, while on a 1970 theres not enough clearance so the downpipe needs to have steeper angled curves like two 90° turns and it routes below the crossmember. on a 1971 its like two 60° degree turns.
you'll need to fabricate your own headers but the motorhome headers are a good starting point. you could get them and modifiy till they fit. would make a great project and some guys on here would be really excited about it (like me).
