Most of the vacuum hoses you see are from the Confortron (The A/C / heater system). The headlight plumbing is fairly simple. IIRC, one vacuum line going into the switch, two going out before being split into the two headlights canisters.

Good luck!

Hi again
The vacuum is fixed - the owner cleaned the actuators up. And its working now.
Only last thing left to fix before inspection - the last one for this car.
Following happens both with engine on, with ignition on and without any other electrics on:
When high beam is on - both low and high beam starts to dim, down and up again. Both lights fluctuates. Sometimes it starts after couple of minutes sometimes directly.
Could it be the dreaded Lamp Switch?
Any place known to fail?

Sounds like a bad alternator to me.

Thats what I suspected but he says its the same even if he had charged the battery - the battery is new by the way.
This behaviour is the same even if the engine or ignition is NOT on.

In that case I’d try the dimmer switch first. Easier to come by than the main switch.

Try jumping the dimmer switch and see what happens.

Pull up the carpet at the dimmer switch and you should see the wires plugged into it. There should be three wires. Blue, green and tan. Blue wire is 12v+, tan wire is low beam and green is hi beam. Put a jumper from the blue wire to the tan and green wires and observe.

While you’re there I would put a voltmeter on the blue wire and turn the headlight switch on and observe the voltage at the switch. See if it fluctuates. If it does then it’s probably in the main switch.

Good luck.
