I still have some hope to find it. When my dad bought the car it had a blown engine. I don't know if that engine was the original or not? If it was I may be able to track it down. My dad gave our neighbor a couple blocks when he moved so I am checking into that. Fingers crossed.

I just found the numbers matching w-34 engine for my toro!! :D It is in the gmc truck that my dad swapped out a big block chevy for the 455. Luckily my brother now has the truck and he confirmed it is the right engine. Looks like I will be pulling some engines and driving to Montana. I can't believe I found it! So now I believe there are 13 numbers matching 69 W-34's. Yes.

congratulations - that is incredible that it still existed! You must write this story for the magazine!

We also have an article in the works on identifying a W-34.

My brother just brought me the original engine for my 69 W-34. See pic. It is covered in an inch of grease and grime but it still runs good. I will just clean it up, new seals and paint it. When the engine is out I will strip the engine bay and repaint it as well. Can anyone give me an idea on the which paint to use to be as close to oem?

I have always used Bill Hirsch engine paints. They are high quality and the colors are about as close as you can get - especially for obscure engine colors. He's expensive, though. A single rattle can witll cost you about $17 plus shipping. He sells quarts and gallons for spray guns, too.

I'm not sure how uncommon the 69 Olds blue is but you should check the auto store chains first for less expensive paint. Most have all the common colors like Ford blue, Chevy orange, Chrysler orange, Ford grey, etc.

They never have Cadillac blue, though.

A quick search of Auto Zone and Advance Auto yielded no Olds blue. They both had GM blue, though. I don't know if GM is the same as Olds blue - probably not.

Don't go to the auto parts store or anything like that. Use the correct color that is sold by Fusick. Somebody else makes it but I can never remember who. Bill can chime in as he prefers that paint. The color was only used on Toro motors 67-69 Toros. In 70 they went to corporate blue.
