1968 Floor pan

Postby 68 Toro » Fri Jun 24, 2011 9:11 pm

I was devastated to learn that the floor pan of my 1968 Toronado is rusted through. You can see the carpet from below. My mechanic will apply rust inhibitor and fiberglass to forestall further deterioration. Any other suggestions? Know of any sources of a compatible aftermarket replacement set?

My mechanic repaired this as follows:

1. Removed front seat and carpet
2. Wire brushed floor pan from above and below
3. Soaked in rust-preventative solution overnight
4. Fiberglassed pan
5. Replaced interior

Sorry I wasn't around to shoot photos of the repair.

We'll see how well this holds up to South Florida's salty air. If it doesn't, I'll have to source a complete set of floor pan parts to weld in.
