?.. 66 olds chassis service manual/Fisher Body Manual

Postby pudland » Sat Sep 15, 2012 8:30 pm

:?:
I've spent a few hours paging through the "manuals" and I'm having a hard time finding anything that really matches my 66 Toro...
Ex... the Climatron control....

Did I waste a few bucks or am I just missing everything????

Is there a better service manual?

Thanks,
Adam

The factory manuals will have all the service procedures and points of pertinence. If you are looking for restoration information you can't beat the assembly line manual which shows how everything goes together. Lynn Davis sells reprints of these for a very modest cost. I'm sure someone here can post his info--I'll look in my stuff and get it for you if not.

Basically.....
The htr/a.c. blower wasn't working.... my cousin pulled a vacuum and a couple days later I flipped the switch and the blower kicked on... I didn't run it long on account of the oil not being able to circulate. The chassis service manual didn't show the control assembly that I have.
I don have any push buttons.. only a lever and a potentiometer.
I was looking for electrical/vacuum diagrams for my systems.

Thanks,
Adam

Well... If you're working off the Chassis Service manual, that is the correct book. I've run some maintenence on my Comfortron out of this manual. All the stuff for the Toronado is in the very back of the book, after the yellow indexes. The 94 & 96 series... Anything specific to the Toronado is in these pages. The information on the Comfortron begins on page 1EB-1. As far as I can tell, all the information you should need on its troubleshooting and maintenence is located within these pages. Minus part numbers.

The control mechanism you describe sounds like the Comfortron, you should have a wheel with temperature numbers marked in it to the left of your levers, yes? IIRC, the wheel to the right is for cruise control. (though I may have those two reversed)

Just to be clear, we are talking about this manual here:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/1966-Oldsmobile ... e7&vxp=mtr

The book in the link is a reproduction... if you want an original one as I have, there are generally a few on at any given time.

Twilight,
I got the chassis service manual from Faxon literature... it's in pdf form on a CD.
The total page count of the file was 1250 pages or so(I will verify that when I get home from work.)
I will look for and scrounge through the sections your pointing to.
Thanks for clarifying this for me!

Also... the physical layout of the comfortron is how you described it. There is a "dummy" wheel to the right and a wheel with temp graduations on the left.

Thanks,
Adam

Thanks for the link! Is the Toro an "a, b, or c" body?

Thanks
