Trim Tag Break Down

Postby GregL » Mon Mar 05, 2012 12:19 pm

Hi Guys,
I just purchased a '66 Toronado and I'd like to find a site that give a clear break down of trim tag and VIN numbers. Any suggestions?
Also, who are you using for reproduction parts?
Thanks,
Greg

Can't help you with tag info...

But as for parts, that depends qhat you're looking for...

Fusick has quite a few reproduction pieces for rubber, trim, etc.
RockAuto has most of the mechanical stuff
And Kanter seems to have the best priced suspension components by a long shot.

I've bought from all of these, and highly recomend each.

Thanks for the leads.
What about cosmetic pieces like dash pad, door panels etc?

Salvage yard, or fellow forum members, eBay.... that's pretty much it. I thought I saw one place that would re-cover a dash for 1st gens... but I don't recall where, and I'm not entirely certain about that fact.

These guys can repair steering wheels... I've never used them, but I plan to when I get that nit-picky about my car. Way down on the bottom of the page you see a 66 Toro steering wheel.

There's not much in the way of reproduction parts for these cars... They're not very common. To the best of my knowledge, Fusick is pretty much the closest thing you'll come to reproduction cosmetic parts. They have badges, mirrors, and a few minor rubber parts... as well as the almost non-existent horizontal shocks for the rear suspension...

You might look at http://www.justdashes.com/ for dash and door panel restoration. They are pretty much the de facto company for that kind of work and do fantastic work from what I've heard.
