Heater control valve

I'm looking for a part number for a '66 Toronado heater control valve... Mine is apparently missing, and I was hoping it was an un-common enough problem part that GM might still have a few around. Seeing as how I can't find ANY on eBay, or any other parts store for that matter... They're my only hope shy of a salvage yard.

The number Twilight needs is for the Comfortron thermostatic-vacuum-switched valve; not the standard issue. But if you have numbers for both types, please send both!
thanks,
Greg

Hey Twilight, can you confirm that this should be a vacuum actuate valve that would be found on the passenger side of the rear of the engine? I have the chassis manuals that list these parts and I might be able to identify it.

I can tell you it is called a Water Valve if I understand your description. Here is what I found on Ebay:

What I have from my 68 with Comfortron:

This looks like the correct one for 66-67 Toronado with Comfortron!

Welll, it certainly looks similar, but why is one end threadded? I'm sure I could jury-rig it into working, nice find, thanks!

I wonder if I could use this much more reasonably priced version...

The threaded end screws into the engine block, heater hose goes on plain pipe
No jury-rigging needed
This I'd the correct one
I'm guessing your cad us already "jury-rigged" and you now need to go back to a normal setup!

Now, now, there... I thought you were a stock kind of guy... :o

And here I was so sure that finding you the correct part would just flip your lid! ;)

It might work, but for a few bucks more you can have one you know will work and is in fact the correct part. On the other hand I will be needing one of these when I convert my 69 to AC... :P

One of the silliest named components in automotive history?

The Comfortron system is a completely automatic climate control system. It utilizes a couple of sensors to determine cabin temperature, exterior temperature, and adjusts accordingly... Y'know, like most modern cars have... Only instead of computers, it is driven entirely by vacuum, and a few thermistors...

There's a wheel you use to set the temperature desired, and you can control where the air comes out... and that's about it... The system regulates just about everything else.

Also, fun note, the sweetest named component in automotive history was also found first on the Toronado's, of the 80's... Twilight Sentinel.... just awesome. It's function was somewhat less awesome, it basically just turned on your headlights as it got darker outside... but still way ahead of its time.

I bought a new Fiero since I last posted here, and have been spending alot of time getting it running well... It has T-Tops! :D So I haven't moved any further with this project just yet... I'm just about done with the Fiero, so I'll be coming back to this in another week or so.
