Trunk seal and lock.

I ordered a trunk seal for my 73 toronado. Im going to get a new trunk lock while im at it.
When started taking old seal out i seen where there was some sealant put down first.

The question i got is when you replaced the seal did you put any sealer down and if so what kind?

The next question for the trunk lock is there any trick or tips to make changing the old one out easier?
