Well, I may have found a '68 w/ bucket seats... Unfortunately, I hate '68s, so I was curious how different they'd be from those found in a '66.

Any (strato bucket) seat from any GM division 66 and up will fit the 66 toro. That said the Olds seat frames and maybe another have two mounting positions, its only an inch or so but for tall people its an important and very big inch. The 66 toro had a weird front (out side) floor mount with a bolt head sticking up, the rear (out side) shod be OK. You will need the (inside) front and rear mounts but don't just cut the mounts out of the floor cut a large enough section to correctly reposition (locate) the mounts on the floor. If not you'll run the risk of mis-positioning the mounts and therefor the seats

That's pretty neat, thanks

i'm 6'6", so good to know. Are the fabrics similar? Or are the 66 toro's the only one that will match up? How about the consol? I imagine the toro with it's flat floor would not use the same console from other strato-buckets...

The 66 -67 console are different that the 68, to adapt the 68 console/shifter to the 66 is some what straight forward but sill some what of a PITA you will need ALL of the of the 68 shift linkage (and I mean everything) without it your screwed. Then you'll need to disable the column linkage on the 66.
As far as seat fabric you'll need to reupholster the seat colors and fabrics are completely different between the two years unless both just happen to be white.

Are there any other vehicles that share consoles with the 66?

66-67 consoles are single application Toronado only, and are found quite frequently in 67's though it may take two or there to make a good one, unless of course you happen to get lucky and find one in complete and in good condition.

Oh, so they became more common in '67? Well, neat

Thank you very much for the input.
'66 and '67 have completely different fabric patterns don't they? Do you happen to know if there are any other vehicles that would have the same fabric stock? I'd need a plum set if I were to do this. But, I may just get a later set and have them re-appholstered so I can get a reclining bucket seat. My head hits the headliner as it is, and I understand buckets make it worse...
In the '66/67 w/console, is the shifter in the console as well? What happens to the shift indicator on the gauge cluster, is there a delete?

Extremely different on several counts. Most significant is that '66 only have no seat back lock on them. '67 and later do (667 and 68 are on side of seat) ...so they will be visually very different. As mentioned, upholstery is year specific... '66 only. You'd have to get the interior floor tracks to mount...as Bill mentioned. A pain in the butt to do...but it's been done.
'66 didn't have a shift console... just a simple (very simple) storage box. Quite uncommon for both '66 and '67. So without floor shifter... buckets are somewhat irrelevant for '66 and '67... not much use to get them.

Hi Toro people in the know,
Concerning the interior options on a 68. Is this seat pattern an option? It seems pretty rare. I wonder what interior code this would be. Would you know if the rear seat has a similiar pattern as this? Is the pattern in the middle embroided with thread or is it embossed? I wonder if a auto trim shop could duplicate this pattern? Has anyone ever haerd of anyone achieving this...just curious..
Thanks, Jim

This is an embossed pattern and found only on the 68 toro base models whether it was a bench or the buckets. It would be difficult though not impossible to have reproduced. Darwin's points as to differences in details of first gen toro buckets are well taken. However those points aside the seats of any first gen 66-70 toro will fit any other year provided you have the proper seat mounting points and locate them in there position.
