1966/67 Carpet driver feet pan

Has anyone experience with a safe dismounting of the feet pan in front of the driver seat? My one is so pretty and without any crack on rubber mat or plastic pan. I would safe it for a use with a new carpet then. But I have no idea how it is fastened. Shop manual and also the fisher body manual told nothing about...!

There is a flange around the perimeter under the rubber where it is screwed down. The rubber goes down last. Unfortunately there is no way to remove the pan without first removing the rubber mat.

Thank you @taco. Is the rubber glued in the pan? Is it difficult and non destructive to remove?

I’m sorry but I can’t answer that. Mine was shrunken away so bad it was just lying on top of the pan.

I believe the original has rubber tabs that fit into the pan. I would try gently pulling on one corner to see if it will come up without tearing.

I can proudly tell, I´d dismount the pan without damage.
But I found: the 1967 feet pan (and possible later years) is very different to the 66 one. Oldsmobile has simply reduced the pan in parts for the next 67 model. I own a 1966 parts catalog with a clear drawing. But that is wrong - it is different.
In 1966 they used a colored hard vinyl pan with a molding and at last a black rubber mat. It was riveted to the floor through the plastic pan. The 4 rivets are invisible because the rubber mat is fit with tabs over em. Tuco told that right.



1967 Toronado got a two part pan only. It is a full rubber made pan with a molding now. 8 self drilling screws are simply drilled angular sideways under the rubber through brackets of the molding. The screws are invisible because the soft edging of the (new) rubber cover em.





Problem to unscrew the later pan is its age hardened. The pan is nearly as hard as the first used hard vinyl pan and the edges are easy to demolish. To avoid damage I use a new saw blade (and a lot of time) to cut the screw heads.
In which way I can fit it again (to invisible the screws) - I have at the moment no idea. I´ll tell you then...
