door panel repair

A lot of plastic parts, like the bottom door panels of our Toronados, are used since the 50th. With my restoration work on a 67 Toro it needs a repair of some serious damage. At the driver panel, I found missing plastic parts or broken mountings. At invisible areas I tried a number of different glues. With surprise the REVELL glue for their plastic modell kits was the right stuff. Also the polystyrol sheets from EVERGREEN to reconstructing the missing areas was the best choice.

Last picture shows the restored driver door panel. I think it is ready for many more years now. ;)

I know when I did mine the door panels were a mess. Lots of time spent rebuilding them.

You did a nice job. The finished product looks factory new. Congrats!

That's pretty nice. Is the vinyl interior skin new or was that ok and you just had to repair the backside?

I dismounted the whole panel in all of its parts, glue and repaired the plastic, and spray a new coating of dupli-color burgundy vinyl dye (HVP110) all over. The vinyl was burned black from the arizona sun.

Wow! That looks great. Have you got the two missing buttons for the pleats?

That is the place for the door handle. Last part to mount at the door. ;)
