windlace, '66
I don't have the windlace from disassembly. Where does it run from and to? The answer will reveal itself eventually, but I wouldn't mind trimming out and finishing my headliner sooner than that. Thanks in advance.

Here are some pretty crappy photos on my car. The windlace starts just under the rear of the door sill and runs up to the rear window where it is covered by the interior panel.
My finger is pointing to the beginning and end .
There is non on the front of the door frame as the kick panel wraps around the weld and forms what would be the windlace.

Thank you Otto! That looks like an upholstered windlace vs. a molded/extruded windlace, is that correct? What about along the roof rail, from like the dash back to the sail panel?

The windlace is vinyl, not woven fabric. It's not hard plastic if that's what you mean. It's vinyl fabric over foam padding, probably. It's very different from my '64 Ford Galaxie which is a squared off U shaped piece of molded rubbery stuff that pushes over the welded flange.
Of course it might depend on the car's trim level or whether the seats are cloth or vinyl. There is no windlace above the door or anywhere else. That short piece on the rear door jamb is all there is.
For reference, my car's interior is original and never replaced or restored.

Thanks Otto. How does the headliner end at the sides, above the doors? My Cutlass uses the u-shaped rubber molding all along there. Would you mind sending a couple pics of how the Toro headliner ends?
BTW - beautiful interior, beautiful car!

I will post some pics for you. I think it is just hidden behind the metal trim piece that surrounds the window openings.
This interior is the factory one and looks really good in pictures and pretty good in person. There are a few minor blemishes but I'm going to leave it alone for now. The main problem is the deterioration of the foam padding. I'm sitting a little lower than I'd like, too.

BTW, I had new foam padding installed. It is not that difficult to remove the upholstery, replace the foam, and re-install the upholstery.
You had a place do it? What'd they charge? I assume they had to custom shape the foam.
