I discovered today that the return fuel line size is 1/4", not 5/16" reported in previous posts. I found this out while troubleshooting why the return line was leaking where it connected to the hose. I had replaced the hoses on the front and back (3/8" supply and 5/16" return), but not the hard lines along the frame rail. I bought new brake line and when I remove the old lines discovered both hard lines to be in good shape, only the 1/4" hard, return line was smaller than the 5/16" hose, hence why it was leaking.
For those of you replacing only the hoses, I suggest you remove the hard lines before you make the connections, then put them back in their support brackets. This was much easier than when I tried to thread the hose over the lines while the lines were still up in their recess.

Re: 1966 Fuel Line Sizes
I got jacked-up some time ago (another forum, I think) for saying the vapor return plumbing was 1/4". The guy claimed it's 1/4" at the pump, but 5/16 at the tank--or something like that.
