Installing front wheel bearings in a 66 Toronado. I have had two different brands of bearings. The old ones came out easy. I cannot get the new ones to go in. Any suggestions?

What do the new and old look like side by side. There must be some difference.

Where did you buy the new ones and what brand are they?

Of course I don’t have the originals. But I have tried three different brands and I cannot get them to go back into the hub.

I meant the the ones you took out. Do you still have those for comparison?

There's another thread on here with some part numbers for those bearings. I have a set in the garage that I can look for tomorrow and get the part number just to see if you have the right ones.

See if any of the part numbers in this thread are the ones you've attempted to install.

Perhaps someone has changed the front wheel assemblies from a later model? If your car has disc brakes, it may have 1967 or 1968 assemblies which use different bearings.

Yes that’s what I meant I was being sarcastic; I did not keep the ones I took out like a fool. Perhaps it’s a very late building that has 67 wheelbearings? What is the procedure people used to reinstall the bearings into the hub?

I doubt that a late assembly would make a difference. The '67 bearings are different because of the disc brake option. The entire assembly is different. Even 1966 wheels won't fit on a '67 and up disc brake assembly.

What brand and part number do you currently have? Does it match any of the ones mentioned in the other thread? You may want to PM or email the guy in that other thread. He was able to install his , seemingly without a problem.

You might have to try locating them using the original GM/Olds part number to find a cross reference to other applications.

I'd contact Willysnut in that other thread via PM or email and see what he had to do to install them.

Attached is my latest parts list for my 1966 Toronado. Some of the ports on my earlier list were found to not be correct, I've tried to note them on this list. Rockauto has the correct front wheel bearings. The only manufacturer for these (that I know of) is WJB. Follow the assembly instructions in the service manual. I got mine back together with some light tapping. It would help if you could freeze the bearing portion.

Any reason some of the words are lavender, blue, light yellow, etc?

When the part name is lavender, it means that I have purchased it. When the part numbers and prices are in color, it defines who the supplier is.
