66 sway bar trouble

Has anyone replaced the sway bar bushings in their 66?

I’m having trouble finding the right bushings. I ordered a set along with the link kit from Rock Auto. They sent the wrong parts. The link kit had the long 7” bolts with long spacers. No problem, I got shorter bolts and cut the spacers down to size. The problem is the bushings won’t fit the brackets. They are for a 1”bar but they are too tall and too narrow for the brackets.

I tried Fusick. They sent the same style that RA sent.

Anybody know where to get the correct bushings?

I actually took my old parts to Advance Auto and bought a performance kit off the rack that was as close to the original as possible.

Here's what Moog has but they look like the tall ones you described.

Here's a link to the Olds Master Parts Catalog. Find the GM part number and see if Moog's part number search turns it up. Same with Rock Auto. Maybe it will come up as a Cutlass or Eldorado or something.

Thanks Otto. Yea, the Moog part is like the ones I have. So far the GM number is turning up the same thing.

This is crazy. I can’t be the only person that’s run into this. I’ve checked Rock Auto bushings for 66 Cadillac, Pontiac, Buick, Chevrolet etc. with no luck there either. Same with 67 Toro.

I even pulled the brackets and bushings from my parts car thinking maybe my originals were changed at some point but they’re the same.

I could go with aftermarket 1” bushings and brackets but I really wanted to keep the originals.

Check with ADDCO suspension.

I bought a 1 1/8" diam anti sway bar for my 1956 Cadillac from them to replace the original 3/4" one. What a difference in handling for the better.

I'd caqll them rather than looking online.

My experience is my poly bushings come with a mount that fits the outside
of the bushing. I use it because the OEM does not fit. Bruce Roe

Tuco, did you ever get to the bottom of this? The original PN for the '66 sway bar bushing is 1496342 which MOOG lists as interchange PN K5253. What one worked for you?
