66 power window motor

The passenger door power window is struggling and it causes the fuse to blow.

Any advice on taking the door skin offf. I see the lower screws and some on the chrome trim. Is that it? Just take those screws out and pull the skin up and off?

I want to see if the motor bogging is a lubricant issue or a failing motor.

If I do need a motor any thoughts on sourcing one? Fusicks?

My car has roll up windows but my experience with power windows is that the motor itself is seldom bad. it's usually contacts and switches that get corroded.

The little plastic guides that ride on the tracks get brittle and break. The tracks get full of crud and dried out grease, etc.

Take the thing apart and clean everything. Put spray silicone on the channels, lube everything with white lithium grease but don't overdo it.

You need to pull the door handle too. If you have a rear handle that one also has to come off.
They aren’t too bad coming off but putting the little bolt back in to replace them is a pain.
Also there is a screw under the chrome trim on the switch panel.

All my cars have door part access by taking off the inner panel and maybe getting
the window up. None by taking off the outer skin. Bruce Roe

Mission accomplished. Lubed everything and it works better.

That said, the little bolt that holds the front handle to the door was a pain. I used a tiny 5/16 wrench to tightening it 1/4 turn at a time. On the last pull the wrench fell into the arm rest — and there it will remain for eternity.

Thanks for the help.

Yep. That arm rest door handle is a poor design. It looks like it was intended to be a little storage shelf for misc stuff. The opening is so large I had a set of keys slide down hole. Luckily I could just see them hung up on something down there and I slipped in a grabber tool and managed to get them out. If they had gone all the way to the bottom I'd have had to take the door panel off.
