Well, I guess I'd better take good care of the bearings that are on it now!

Rock Auto shows front wheel bearing for 1966 for $20. Is this the correct part? Should I order a couple just to have them on hand?

Ooops. I didn't scroll to the bottom of the chart you linked to. Yeah, they're showing the front bearing assy. for twenty bucks. I can hardly believe it. One wonders if these are Chinese. Never heard of WJB bearings before.

If you're keeping the original brakes...I'd jump all over that. I was certain they were nearly extinct. Now I'm wondering what reality I'm living in.

For $20 you can't beat it. I'll buy a pair to keep on the shelf just in case. They probably are Chinese but I'm not auto crossing this car so if I need to use them they ought to work.

I purchased a pair of the WJB front wheel bearings from Rock Auto for $20 each. They had an instant 10% rebate at checkout. I also used the 5% Rock Auto discount code so the grand total for a set of front wheel bearings which included $3.30 tax and $7.99 shipping was $44.53.

That's not too bad. The parts look like good quality but you can't tell until they're used. Each bearing weighs 3 pounds. If any of you have the originals out of the car I'd be interested to know what they weigh.

I figure for less than $50 it's better to have them if I need them than to not be able to get them at all someday.

When I read this post I did the same thing as Otto, I purchased a second set of front wheel bearings from Rock Auto. When I bought new ones a year ago the best price I could find was $79 each.

How do they look to you compared to the originals or to the ones you paid $80 for?

They are the very same bearing from the same manufacturer. Only difference being they were $60 less

Yes a changeout to 70-78 complete front suspension is not that hard, probably
rebuild it first. I grabbed a few before they got to the crusher and gave them to
60s owners. Discs, dual circuit, common parts. Bruce Roe
