Transmission cooler add on

Hello everyone I have 66 Toronado which I love driving long distances I was wonder what everyone thought were on adding a transmission cooler to keep the oil a little cooler and adding gauge

Unless you're driving up Pike's Peak and dragging a trailer, I wouldn;t waste the time and money.

I've never experienced overheating problems with my Toronado's tranny on long trips, I've also never had problems with the TH400 in other cars of similar vintage on 400+ mile drives.

It's a great transmission.

My approach would be to keep an eye on the coolant temp, and improve the radiator
if necessary. Those oil coolers are another opportunity to spring a leak and loose
your fluid. A trans temp gauge could be added with a bung in the pan, added or an
after market pan has the bung but fins reduce your ground clearance. Or work up
a T for the sensor on the pressure line to the radiator. Bruce Roe

They did offer an optional tranny cooler for towing applications. As a matter of fact, the 69 W-34 that I saw had this option. But really not necessary otherwise. I agree with the comments above regarding radiator cooling.
