Hi,
I am thinking that a toro transmission mounted facing backwards, with a corvair engine mounted too it would provide 3 forward gears. I know that some fiero guys do this, but flip the differential (not sure how to do that). I figure that even if it is being run in reverse a 425 olds is making 3-4 times more torque than a corvair could hope, and it would give access to gearing and stall converters that the corvair does not have available. a steeper first gear would really help getting out of the hole. My question, is does anyone have a toro trans that they could measure for clearance? I am concerned that the corvair being horizontal would create and interference fit with the transmission.
Please help.
I did not find the right solution from the Internet.
