Ignition seting

Hi!,

who does it know ...something about the signs on the plate on the picture ? how is the correct setting of a ignition or your recommendation for 1966 Toronado?
what is it this small slots in the plate, holes and square-hole ?

Jelonek, do you have a 1966 Olds Chassis Manual?

If so, look up ignition timing and go to the page listed. You'll see a photo of the timing pointer with each slot labelled. Basically they're in 5 degree increments with the top one being 10 degrees BTDC.

(notice the two punched out holes to the right? the top one is a "10", the bottom one is "0".

If you look at the right side that easy :lol: but if you look at the front that's like...... hieroglyphs

What is a typical setting for ignition? Aktuelle i have eight degree and the car runs very easy.....

That's about right. The manual says 7.5 degrees BTDC. but unless you have a digital timing light, I don't know how you'd get it exactly at 7.5.

I've seen some timing lights that allow you to set the desired timing advance and then a light will come on when you get the distributor turned just right.

Yes I found everything in the Holly Bibel of Toronado :oops:
The timing light is no problem couse my friends have everything , the next time I want to check TDC ans ignition setting......
