Ball joints

My mechanic says the lower ball joints on my 67 are shot. Why are these so expensive?

It's a part for a 50 year old car that doesn't have a wide application.

The only company making them, as far as I know, is Rare Parts in California.

How many sets of these can possibly be sold every year by all retailers combined? I'd be surprised if the number was greater than 10.

Be grateful that they're available at all and for any price. On the plus side they're top quality parts made in USA and you'll never have to replace them again.

Hopefully your original part doesn't have the casting number of the more expensive version.
