Trunk

Postby Ralph111 » Tue Oct 03, 2017 6:02 pm

I am researching what material was used for the trunk for a 1966 Toronado deluxe.
Also where do I find it?
Thank you

Nice trunk Otto.....do you have any pics of the side view? ....how did you finish around the down spouts and wheel well?

In the pic above you can see the side panels. the downspouts are behind them. I think the side panels rest on a flange weld or something that comes down from the top of the deck/quarter. I don't remember for sure. I'd have to look at it.

The curved areas on each side and in front of the jack (as you're viewing it) are the wheel wells.

Fantastic! You did a wonderful job! Does that material have some type of foam backing on it? I recently pulled the old material from mine which was in terrible condition, but there definitely is some type of foam backing on it. Also, mine has a houndstooth pattern of some shade of blue or gray or both.
Thank you again for sharing all of your info and pic!

Don't give me the credit. I bought this car from a friend who got it in a lot at Mecum auction. It was in a lt of 5 cars that came out of a private collection. He wanted 3 of the 5 and this was one that he didn't want - mainly because it has no ac.

Anyway, he intended to flip it at auction and had his upholstery shop do the trunk before he sold it. Luckily for me I happened to spot it in his garage and commented on the beautiful color. He tossed me the keys and told me to take it for a drive and gave me a price that was about half what he would have put on reserve at auction.

Oh ya, the fabric does have a foam backing.
