Gen 3 Coolant Level Sensor

Postby cwripinz » Thu Jul 27, 2017 4:04 pm

In the Radiator my 1985 Toronados there is a Coolant Level Sensor. Problematic if you are to damage one (easy to do) like I did when changing a Radiator or working near it since they have become that rarest of materials: Unobtainium.

I have discovered that there is a sensor used in 1992-1994 Chevy & GMC Pickups & Vans that is an excellent substitute and readily available... Part Number FLS-3 from numerous manufacturers. Stop by the local wrecking yard and grab the connector... It is different... Splice in that one in place of your current connector, screw in the FLS-3, plug it in and BINGO! It all works just like it is supposed to! The FLS-3 is about $10... Connector doesn't even hit the wrecking yard's minimum buy, so they will probably hit you up for a 5-er. With splicing, soldering, waterproofing & sealing the joint, screwing in the new sensor and replacing the coolant (about a cup) that you just spilled... figure 30 minutes to do the job.

Oh yeah... This works in Gen 3 Rivieras and Eldorados, too.
