1966 Toro Fuel Line Diameter and Length

Postby Otto Skorzeny » Sun May 21, 2017 1:15 pm

What is the correct diameter of the rubber fuel hose in the 66 Toro fuel line? Is it 3/8" or 5/16" ?

What is the total length of the rubber portion? The manual has has a description and diagram but gives no specifications.

I see now that it's supposed to be 3/8. As for length, I'm estimating 10 feet but if anyone has the exact number I'd be curious.

Wild Guess: 10 feet of hose is enough for three cars.

Been forever since I've been under mine...but...I'd expect less than a foot of hose up front in the engine compartment, and about the same in the back connecting to the tank. All the rest should be metal tubing.

Although I do have half-a-memory of an intermediate section of hose; but that may have been my "patch" for a section of rotted tubing.

The return plumbing will likely be 1/4" hose-and-metal tubing.

It's definitely more than a foot up front. The visible portion is over 2 feet. The hose runs from the fuel pump into a hole in the frame and goes up over the wheel well and comes out again just behind the fender. I estimated that to be close 3 feet on its own.

It connects to the steel line and then turns to rubber again just after the rear door edge where it again goes into a hole in the frame, up over the rear wheels and then comes out again all the way to the tank.

Otto,
You need the same lengths of 3/8" and 5/16" fuel lines. The 3/8" is the supply and the 5/16" is the return. When removed, the front hose sections measured 51". Suggest purchasing 11' of both sizes. Due to the difficulty of making connections at both ends, I suggest using at least one foot more hose than it actually takes. Purchase the best hose that you can buy as this replacement is no fun.

Hi Marty,

My original post is 2 1/2 years old. It only popped up as a new thread because of the spammer/bot post.

My car has no ac and thus no return line.
