Chain torque and HP rating?

Postby Jbeard » Mon Mar 27, 2017 3:10 pm

Hello all!

I was wondering if anyone knows the specific breaking strength of the transmission chain?

As well as what the "max" HP/torque you guys feel is a safe number.

Thanks!

You will never break a good chain; they have been run with 500 engines in motorhomes and
with super or turbochargers. Worry more about it wearing out. Bruce Roe

First Guess: You can't put enough power through the skinny-ass tires to make chain-and-gear problems.

I have been following this forum and the one before for the last 16 years but have never heard of anyone ever having any chain problems.
