Guage / Instrument fix

Postby Eyesells » Thu Jan 12, 2017 9:57 am

Is there a way to fix the broken insulators? I believe I have seen jump wires used. Any ideas or replacements available?

Guage / Instrument fix

Postby bcroe » Wed Jan 18, 2017 8:52 pm

I have scraped off the oxide and soldered a lot of wires on gauge sets, to get
them working. Usually the actual gauges are good. Heat from some of the lights
can cause board distortion, so the lights don't make contact and go out. A couple
wires will fix that. The brass bolts with steel nuts contacting copper boards is just
asking for oxide problems. Usually I can clean up the surface enough to run a
solder connection across the whole set and fix it permanently. Bruce Roe
