I wanted to add this additional data. I have a 66 passenger axle (with the damper) see the photo below. But it is missing the piece that mates to the drivetrain. And looking at the splined end I bet it would take a machine shop to install the correct coupling.
Perhaps the earlier suggestion to engage one of the motor home TH425 rebuild firms is the next step. Appreciate the community's feedback. Rds, Thad

It wouldn't hurt to call Applied GMC and see what's shakin'. All they can say is "No". I don't know if the motorhomes use the exact parts as the Toro (length, etc) but if they can rebuild one for a truck they ought to be able to do it with a car.
I have a friend who has a '67 Eldorado as well as a GMC RV. He swears by Applied GMC for their top quality products.

Is that damper thing just a hunk of rubber? Why is it only on the right side and not the left? Do you notice any difference driving without it, Bruce?

The damper is metal.

Thad,
Do you want the proportioning valve (balance valve) I have for a 68 Toro? It basically is the same as the 1967 version. They changed for 1969. It comes with the clip to hold it to the frame and has been rebuilt and ready for installation. Picture included here. Contact me directly. WOuld like $65 for it plus the shipping.

I only noticed the axle "clunk" cleared up without it, but mine is a 79. Others say they notice
no difference. The damper worked for both sides through the differential.
Likely if you had another shaft (either side), you'd have enough parts to equip the shaft in
the picture. There may have been a couple design variations back then. Like, the inner
U joint spider slides on (no press) and is held with a snap ring (see the manual). Bruce Roe
