Having found out my 66 has a 68 Eldorado transmission. I thought I should do some detective work on the engine.
Also I have been told the color of the engine is not original. Any advice on checking various numbers on the engine to determine if it is original. etc. welcomed. Below is a lo-res photo of the engine. Thanks, Thad Dupper, Colorado

Re: Is It The Original Engine?
Having done some more work I found:
The engine unit number from the engine tag behind the alternator as: N 624834 T
The Block Casting Number (behind the water pump) of: 389244D
On either head the casting number looks like: 389 896 (it could be the starting 3 is an 8 -- hard to tell).
Each head has a B on it too.

Re: Is It The Original Engine?
B heads are for 66 Toronado only, yes those are correct. And the block casting number is correct.
Head casting number is 389395
I believe your engine unit number is correct for Toronado 425 engine.
