Found a few pictures of the leaf springs with new busings installed. Note that the springs have been painted the correct color (a kind of gray green, same color as torsion bars).

thanks doc,
i did mine just like those in your pictures. but i didnt had any luck with the rear upper bushings so far. rockauto advertised the wrong set to be the correct rear upper bushing set. got my refund and they changed its description in their catalog.
steele rubber still claims to have the correct replacement bushing...but they are to small. ordered them myself.

Doc, what did you do for the ones on the upper part of the shackle? Do you have pics of the upper one?

Re: Rear Leaf Spring Bushing upper 1970 Toro
I'll have to sort through pictures and info. I know they are different sizes on the shackle top and bottom and remember when we put them in -- the tops were a bear to get in. Thought I got those from Steele Rubber, not from Rock Auto -- I know I have never purchased a single part ever from Rock Auto for any of my cars. I will have to see about getting pictures. Car resto has been sidelined for some time now as the shop closed. But I'm getting the car in a couple days and see what I can do to get it assembled which is most of what needs doing to get it on the road. I'll see if I can find it in the receipts anywhere as well. There's a mountain of those....

Doc, do I understand that the shop that was restoring your car closed/went out of business while your car was there in pieces?
That's a nightmare.

Re: Rear Leaf Spring Bushing upper 1970 Toro
Hi my friends,
I need the same upper bushings for my 1996 Toro.
Does anybody in the mean time found a source where to buy or has an idea how to compensate?
Thanks.
Martin

Re: Rear Leaf Spring Bushing upper 1970 Toro
yes 1966 of course
I looked in the orig. GM parts catalog and saw that for the 1966 model there is only one part no. for the rear (shackle) bushing: 390642.
But it is obvious that the upper bushings have a lesser outside Diameter (and difference in length).
@Eightballz: you wrote that the upper b. offered by steelrubber are too small. which dimensions are too small?
