Re: Final drive leak....
I know this is an older thread but I was wondering if the front end is raised (ramps) could the differential oil collect in the housing and rise above the vent passage and leak out? While changing the engine oil my 67 was on front- only ramps and I noticed oil dripping from the driver side axle 6 bolt flange joint. Doesn't seem to leak when the car is level but still investigating. I'm not sure of the venting passage path if oil could leak if the front end is raised? I'd like to rule out this theory before I change the axle seals. Thanks Steve

That's how I change the oil in my '66 and have never seen that happen. (of course now I'm going to look for that the next time )

Maybe overfilled?
I wouldn't change the seals unless your experiencing fluid loss under normal conditions.
