Every car on the road today is some shade of silver/grey or gold/champagne.
Pick a real color like that red or turquoise or ocean mist. Of course I highly recommend Dubonnet.

I'm with Otto, pick a shade that's not so common any more. I'm partial to the turquoises myself though. I think these cars look fantastic in the blue..green family.
As far as the cowl tag goes. There have been many that have been replaced.
I'm sure you have seen many a car at a car show that has had the tags reworked already.

I hope the following photos help get that fool notion of painting your car silver out of your head.
Here are examples in Tropic turquoise and Ocean Mist.

Re: Decode 1966 Data plate?
Jim,
I'm curious why you say that about cowl tags. Did you mean in general or for Toronado? Frankly, I don't think I've sen any for Toro that have been replaced. Now, for the cars that bring in a lot with typical car crowd, Chevelles, Mustangs, Camaro, 442, etc. yes, there has been a lot of hanky panky over the years. But little if any on the Toros in my experience. There are some people that are trying to claim to having a rare bucket seat option on the early ones, but haven't seen much along those lines otherwise.

Any of you guys know what those ugly, square lights are on the front and rear fenders of the first photo? Some dope added them to his car? Optional signals?

Those colors do look better than silver. However, I have recently seen some Aston Martins and Porsche's done in a metallic silver that really shows off the lines of the car.
But... Autumn Mist and Dubonet are beautiful colors too.
I may be a year away from doing this so I have time.
Thanks for the pics and ideas.

Re: Decode 1966 Data plate?
Whenever I see a car like a Porsche, Aston Martin (or any other car, really) painted silver, my first thought is that the owner has no imagination. He just bought the car in the same color as the one in the advertisement.
About the only exceptions to that would be a 356 Speedster or 300SL Gullwing.
