1966 fuel tank

Does anyone know the inner workings of a 1966 toro fuel tank? I have a nice clean tank that I am going to install. I checked to fuel feed and return lines on the right front of the tank and they are open and seem fine. There are two breather lines on the rear of the tank . I cannot get any air through the line closest to the fuel filler. I can push a wire through the tube the width of the tank. There does not seem to be any crud in this tube. Is it OK that that this tube seems plugged? Thanks, Mark

EDIT: SORRY WRONG THREAD

There is a caged nut within the body rail on each side. The body bolts are very often difficult to get out. PB Blaster (for weeks) and heat will sometimes work but more often than not you must locate and cut a hole in the floor in order to access the caged nuts and then drill out the spot welds.

Mine came out pretty easily. Just the two nuts. For the one you will have to nudge the muffler a bit. Order a 3/8 fuel sock before you drop the tank. The book says the fuel sock is not replaceable, but I was able to use pliers to rip the old one apart. There is enough space on the line to put a new one in.

The fuel sock seems almost to be a rubber tube on mine; maybe it was replaced once. What did you replace yours with exactly? Do you have any pictures? Someone tried to lift my car with a board under a jack and made two dents in identical positions on each side of the tank. Don't know if I can fix it. Getting the massive amount of undercoating off will be a real chore.
