Replacing Transmission Pan, Filter, Gasket change

Bought a new, aluminum PML transmission pan (raised fins to help cooling, and built-in magnetic drain plug)...pretty rugged looking!...also plan to replace filter (have a NOS filter with copper tubes) and gasket too. First time doing this. Seems straightforward, but any recommendations? Never dropped a pan and changed a filter before...making it a father-son learning experience, but would prefer to have no casualties. Any input for this newbie would be appreciated! p.s., Spring is Here!
