Gecko, I don't disagree with you about modern cars. Modern cars are reliable, efficient, safe, fully optioned, and mechanically superior to those of the past. Unfortunately very, very few have styling that grabs my interest. Even the ones that do catch my attention are only marginally more exciting than the rest of the blobs.

My interest in cars since I was 6 or 7 has been all about their appearance and character. Modern vehicles have no personality or character. They're generally featureless slabs of sameness. I'd rather own a 1965 Mustang with an inline six and no power steering or brakes than a 2016 Shelby.

Even the interiors of modern cars bore me to tears. Must they ALL be charcoal grey with the same bumpy plastic dashboards and door panels? With the exception of Lexus, I haven't seen a white interior on anything made in the last 30 years.

Years Owned: My first Toronado was a 1968 W-34 with the bucket seats and center console... (weeps gently) It was a New England rustbucket in 1982 after less than 14 years. So sad. But it is what infected me and before I knew it I had another '68, a '69, a '70 and eventually inherited a friend's '67 and another friends '73. After buying my brand new Grand Prix in 1988 I retired the last of my Toronados and pulled the 455 I had rebuilt along the way and put it into storage in a friend's barn where it is to this day.
In Mid September of 2010 I happened to see a repeat of the show where Jay Leno did his 66 Toronado and had an instant remission of the disease which resulted in my purchase of a 1969 in very good condition. I am now in the process of fully rehabilitating it and hope to have it on the road in the spring of 2011.

Yup, you are screwed. Your tastes require a lot of character in the body lines to appreciate the car, and I do see the problem for you. Lucky for me I do find many modern cars attractive as well as the classics, so I get to appreciate both worlds.

Lucky for you that there are so many cool classics you probably don't give a damn anyway. You are happy along the lines as what I said before, and that is very cool indeed!

Regarding interiors, however, I could not disagree more. I am a real nut for high quality interiors and design, and while there certainly are plenty of cars that fit your description, the cars I actually am interested in really fly in the face of your comments. High quality materials, cut and sewn surfaces with good tactile feel (A must for me, like you I hate hard cheap feeling plastics.) and nicely contrasting or complementing colors and so on. Cadillac has come a long way in this regard, for example, while not quite attaining the level that the Brits, Germans and Japanese provide. However, I prefer the cars that Cadillac makes so I am willing to compromise on that.

Jaguar and Audi in particular have some very nice interiors. Far above the best of Cadillac or anything you could buy in the classics - my opinion for what it is worth which I suspect is not a whole lot...

BTW Lincoln certainly makes a nice white interior, and I have seen white in quite a few cars, so I am not sure where you are looking. I agree that there is a prevalence of boring black on black or grey on grey out there, but you can get variety if you look around. I understand you really do not care, but the point is still valid.

See below for a nice example of how you can configure the 2016 Camaro. Yes, Camaro. I am amazed, this is good enough to allow me to consider the car when I never would have in the past. I am taking a serious look at this for my next car.
