Instrument Panel dead on my '87.

Postby Tkmdog » Thu Aug 18, 2011 4:35 pm

Absolutely nothing is happening on the instrument panel (Speedometer, odometer, fuel gauge and whatnot) when the car is turned on. Worked fine for the last couple months up until last week, it just stopped. In addition to that at the same time now the turn signals stopped working too. Instead of blinking they just keep both front and back lit solid and make no indication of working (flashing arrow or clicking sound). Everything else works fine though like the dimmer for the lights, headlight panels, radio, climate control, all that. Just the dash will not light up, I've tried looking everywhere and cannot find a decent explanation anywhere. Please help.
Thanks in advance! :D

Sorry Tkmdog to hear about your dead electronic dash display; they can burn out from time to time, and usually it's just one connection inside that, in the right hands, can be repaired and the dash will light up anew.

Your best bet is to pull another one from an 86-87 in a parts yard, or another option: there's a tremendous fellow I've dealt with personally, Mr. Whizard Technical Services out of Winnipeg, up here in Canada. He promises to fix it for under $200, all shipping included. I've met him and he's the real deal: knowledge and integrity. His link is: http://www.mrwhizard.com/

Check it out, and I hope all goes well for you. I own an '87 and love driving it.
