Switch pitch tuning adjustment

Postby Jimsss » Wed Jul 27, 2011 2:05 pm

Ok, been trying to get my switch pitch working correct
in my 66 Toro, if I get it to work stall wise the kickdown
doesnt work properly and vice versa.
Do we have any switch pitch gurus here?
I have another switch on the way in the mail, and
hopefully it gets better....

I'm kind of in the same boat...

Thanks to Jimsss's suggestion, I found the second hole underneath the throttle cable connection instead of above it. The rod now fits and actuates it for the most part. But it doesn't quite hit both stop in its sweeps. I imagine I have to find somewhere between.

This is the only mention of it in the service manual. It seems pretty straightforward, though the instructions are a little vague as to which of the wires connect to which terminal. Shouldn't be too hard to figure out though. The bottom right shows adjusting for the switch-pitch, and just to the left of it seems to be for the downshift.

Our switch pitch "guru" (TOA Technical Advisor) is Bruce Roe. His contact information can be found on page 2 of every Front Wheel Driver magazine.
