Hello from "Down Under". I'm looking to purchase a clean, original, 1966 Toronado. Although I live in Australia, I'm after a clean example, worthy of freighting down here. Please send details and pics, I will answer all replies.
Kind regards,
Ian "Hank" Williams.

There is a 1966 in good condition in the Houston area. It is listed at eBay and (I believe) can be bought for ~ $8000 USD. Good running condition, but need a little paint work and interior clean up. Is driven regularly. Would be unique in Oz.

Well, not only am I a member of the TOA, I've just purchased a nice, unmolested and very neat '66 Toronado from Santa Barbara, California. The car is due to leave California early February and is due to arrive in Western Australia in 3-4 weeks. I had some trouble with some folk who had their Toronados for sale, as soon as I mentioned that I was from Australia, I never heard from them again, I see that their cars are still for sale.
I'm looking forward to the day I can drive and enjoy the car that I have admired from afar for 53 years.

That's good. I'm glad you found a nice one. Post some pictures of the one you just bought.

OZ, Was the '66 at any of the traditional listing places? How did you find it?

G'day dap8,
The Toronado that I have purchased was found through Google, it was in the Hemmings list of Toronados. The car was inspected by the Australian importer's vehicle inspector and was very thorough, I recieved a written report as well as 87 photos of the normal places where one would expect signs of wear, as well as a couple of paint blemishes and a couple of oil leaks, which one would expect from a 1966 model car.
I will post some pics when it arrives in Australia.

And no asbestos, right?

I will let you know how I go with the Australian Border Protection authorities about any asbestos content when it gets over here.

Where's the asbestos? Is it illegal? Or is this a joke. They are bad strict down under.

He asked about it before he bought the car. The only possible asbestos would be the brake shoes and donut gasket in the exhaust. That would only be if both parts were original and maybe not even then.
