1966 Toronado Delux

Postby Checkov » Sun Jun 08, 2014 6:50 am

Hello I am a new member wanting to sell my project Toronado. I am finding the task more involved than I hoped, my skill level as a mechanic is a bit lacking as well. Here are details of the car:

Odometer reads 97,000 and the previous owner said its original...

Overall good body. Floor pans rusted out, rust to front grill area.

425 Engine runs strong and well ( although it idles fast). I start it about each month.

Seats have split at seams (recently).

Car is fairly complete.

Dash does not work.

What I have done to the car: removed and cleaned, painted the fuel tank and reinstalled. Had the starter rebuilt and reinstalled. Bought a new fuel pump and reinstalled. Bought and installed drum caliper kits all 4 corners. Replaced about half the brake lines with new. Had the rotors turned. Bought and installed a new master cyclinder. Bled the brake system which seems to work.

Right now my next task is to see what is wrong with the transmission, it works but grinds when going into reverse. I have read on the forum a possible culprit is the electrical linkage. However I am not skilled at all in electrical wiring work.

We have a bill of sale and I think the old title ( wife says so).

I would like to get what I have invested in car and parts in it back in a sale.

$1700. It can be picked up or I do have a trailer and could deliver it for a fee to a reasonable distance.

I am going to continue working on it and the price will probably raise accordingly as I make progress.

Thanks for looking, Alex

PS I do have the bumpers

Apparently the transmission is functional. I oiled the linkage and was careful to make sure there was no wheel movement and it seems to shift and function.

Same price.

I'm wondering where your car is.
What state?

From the photo I'd have guessed Australia. Get it? Hahaha!

If you mean it's dusty, yes it seems dust gets in anywhere.

No. I meant the photo is posted upside down. You know, Australia's on the other side of the world, "down under" in the southern hemisphere upside down?

I have cleaned up the car, tore out the old rotten flooring, carpet etc.

Welded in new sheet metal in the floor, bondoed crevices etc., treated with rust inhibitor, painted the repaired areas.

Have put on two functioning used tires, test driven the car at about 40 MPH, ran well, shifted well.

Next step is to take apart the grill area and repair the support. I'd rather sell it for what I have in it.

Now up to about 1700.00
