Anyone been successful finding headers for the '66 Toro 425. I'm sure they'd have to be custom fabricated, but I'm in the Houston area and having a hard time finding anyone even interested in makink a set...

That's a nicely done custom! I always find it really hard to believe that an exhaust shop does not want the money to do a custom job... and it IS a custom job! I have two shops around Denver (one in North Denver and one in Colorado Springs) that has no problem doing custom exhaust, so somebody near you MUST do this type of work. Look around amongst the modders and Ricers, somebody can point you in the right direction of a custom shop.

I have yet to hear of anybody doing a successful header job on a Toro. If anybody has done it, I'd love to hear about it too!

Thanks Mike....
I think it may be the header style creating the apprehension...up and over as opposed to down and under due to the clearance problems caused by the tranny. Header flanges are available on several sites, but no headers. Still has the original 425. Have managed to find the upgraded cam kit, intake, HEI ignition, distributor and matching carb online, unfortunately from several sources rather than matching parts from one supplier. Tough enough due to the 39deg bank angle and .921 lifters in the Toros. The top is dropped 4", shaved handles, the interior rebuild is mostly complete, still working on a custom console to mount the touchscreen gps/stereo. Moving the tranny shift from the column to the dash/ console too. Have seen some good posts on disc brake conversions too. I have big plans for this Toro, I'll try to update regularly.

No, you are correct on why they don't want to do it, but how many times have you seen a Horsepower TV or Musclecar on Spike where they've done custom headers for some bizarre setup? I have many times, though maybe not as extreme as Toro job would be.

Definitely keep us updated! I know I'd love to see your progress!
