Hi, I have recently purchased a 1966 Toronado Deluxe. It was at an estate sale. The Car had been sitting in a Henderson, Nv. Garage for 17 yrs. It had a new Engine installed and a paint job in the original color done right before the owner fell ill and it was parked. The owners son claimed his dad had him go in the garage and start it every so often but it had not been started the last few years. I have since gone thru battery, tires, brakes, fuel, etc and it is a wonderful driver. I also installed some new original interior. Forgot this car had J C Penny L-78-15 tires on it that had a lot of tread but started breaking up when the flat bed truck was picking it up.

Be sure and do a proper pre-start procedure before trying to crank the engine.

Remove the plugs and turn over the engine by hand to avoid breaking any piston rings that might have gotten stuck due to corrosion.

Fresh oil and filter, of course.

I would also do a thorough flush of the entire cooling system as rust forms in cars that sit. Sometimes its a good idea to knock out a core plug or two and have a look inside there. If its rusty, knock them all out and pressure spray into the water galleries.
