Unmolested 72

Postby frenchbulldog » Sat Jun 06, 2015 6:14 pm

searched for some time to find my "time capsule" Toronado. I had an Alfa Romeo GTV6 as my last toy for 12 years and was aching to replace with something else. The Alfa was not an age appropriate car for me anymore and had constant repairs, the car was over engineered. I decided to go full on American, full size and a car that represented Detroit at its Zenith, before the first oil crises of the early 1970s.

I found this 1972 for sale, in a warehouse collection. I am in the process of replacing fluids and belts. In my car, this car will remain stock and unmolested, no 22 rims, lowering kits, suspension modifications, cams.etc.

That's a good looking car. I like that Olds retained the knife edge styling of the first gen, fwd Eldorado. I often mistake them for Eldos at first glance.

Great looking car!
Glad to see a gen 2 car here, they seem to be gaining in popularity.
They look so much better with the bumpers tight to the body
The next year was the first for the 5mph(?) bumpers, which stick way out.
I plan to eventually tuck the bumpers on the '73 my son and I share as the filler strips are long gone and do not seem to be reproduced.
