Does anyone know if the rear drum brakes on a 1969 Toronado are self-adjusting? I just want to make sure before I replace them with the new shoes I bought.

'66 is so I'd expect '69 to be the same.

I forgot to mention that you still have to adjust the brakes after you install the new shoes. Follow the instructions in the FSM but basically they're the same as any other common drum brake system.

Do one side at a time so you can use the other side as a reference for installation of the parts on the other side.

Don't get your star wheel adjusters mixed up.

The left side adjusters have right hand threads.
The right side adjusters have left hand threads.

A friend of mine had the wrong adjuster on one of the front drums of his 1960 Cadillac and the brake constantly adjusted itself while driving so that it would lock up, overheat, and smoke.

Thanks for the tip, man! I'll be keeping that in mind.
