Be extra careful in any country whose name ends in "stan".

I hope the battery is connected to a maintainer. Bruce Roe

Jelonek,

Yes, you need it. That is the downshift rod that operates the switch pitch transmission. The switch for it is the one in your photo. Is the rod connected to its lever?

Is that your Mercedes back there?

As Bruce mentioned, is your battery on a tender/maintainer?

hallo everybody after winter :)
my carburetor has now new setting and is rebuilt, in perfect condition, I´m waiting for the delivery... and reinstalation,
couse i had a problem with custom to us and back to Germany ( two times custom  ) I decided to send it to Sweden. There ist a very good and known specialist Kent, he does it almost 40 years . I get a big report... also. My report follow after first start

but now I have two questions:
--I think about a Drum-to-Disc Brake Conversion ? everything/reports what I found hier is a little bit old 5-10 years, do you have any experience with it ? where can I find a kit for that?

--on my last picture you can see the downshift rod that operates the switch pitch transmission, it works good but i can´t find how can I make/check the setting für the right possition of the rod-screw... (nr. 1 and 2) if you know what I mean, I try to make a photo of them

Thank a lot !

When the ign is turned on, there should be 12V battery on the single wire to
that switch. The 2 wires in the other connector go down to the trans. The
wire which goes to the upper trans lug should also have 12V at rest/idle.

As the accelerator is partly opened, the 12V above will be off. As the accelerator
is pushed close to wide open throttle, 12V should again appear on the above
wire, and also on the other wire which is connected to the lower (kickdown) lug
on the trans. This will occur in reverse as the accelerator is released. Adjust
the rod as needed, best to do final check with your foot in the car, as pulling
on the rod may not give exactly the same results.

Good luck, those switches are not very reliable. And they only work for you
at idle and near full throttle. I replaced most of that with electronic switch
pitch control in my car, which works in every situation. Bruce Roe

Jelonek,

In my opinion, a conversion from drums to discs is a pointless waste of time and money. There is absolutely no performance advantage to be gained by doing so. In fact, converting to disc brakes may even increase your stopping distance.

The only advantage disc brakes have over drums is that the fluid doesn't heat up with repeated , high speed , panic type stops. Unless you plan on driving your car in hill climbing or auto cross events you will never experience brake fade in your Toronado.

For normal driving the stock brake system will be fine. If you feel like making a worthwhile upgrade, ad a dual reservoir master cylinder.
