I have been driving my 1956 Cadillac as my daily car since 2001. It has the original points ignition system. I take it on 1000 mile trips every year. I've never had a problem with points in all that time.
Because of that experience I decided to leave the points ignition in the Toronado. No problems in the 4 years I've owned it.

That's a good idea with the nail polish.
Those little lights look horrible. They aren't a factory option. Take them off.

Re: Hello from Germany!
You mean you had to put those on to make it street legal? What are they for? What's wrong with the factory turn signals?
Re: Hello from Germany!
Don't worry Otto
wrong is nothing ... everything is okay but german regulations a very complicated and only in Germany
We need a turn signal and stop lights we need Position lights without a general headlights and the most important is that we need hazard lights but without a stop and Position lights. It is a separate System
for example you stay and you have hazard lights on.... and then you put down the stop lights it's not elowed that stoplights switch off the hazard lights
The hazardlights are the absolutely.
I'm my car from 1966 I had now hazardlights till now.

Do you have to put hazard lights on the rear?
After the inspection you'll take all that stuff off, right? Can you get in trouble for removing them?

Re: Hello from Germany!
hazard lights have to be! and I have it in the normal turnlights at the front and rear
5W lamps in turnlights at the front are switched to this small one at the front of the car
but this small at front "positionslights" I take off ...everything,

you may get in trouble if the cops are familiar with old cars and their special requirements...but mostly they arent.
but if you are involved in an accident you may be screwed if they can prove that it wouldnt have happened when your lights were as required.
